A D120 smoke curtain helps form the boundary of a smoke reservoir within a designed smoke control system.

Provide the reservoir layout, curtain bottom level and expected air movement together with the opening dimensions. Check how adjacent barriers join and whether the installation remains within the documented size range. Coordinate the curtain and extraction sequence before choosing controls.

Design

A smoke curtain limits the spread of the smoke layer at its designed boundary. Extraction and replacement air are provided by the wider smoke control system; the curtain does not extract smoke. A fixed barrier remains in position, while an automatic one moves to the specified depth on command. D120 is a smoke-barrier performance designation, not an EI fire-resistance or door smoke-leakage class.

Backup-power capacity and power-loss response are confirmed for the selected controls and project sequence.

Used at the designed boundary of smoke reservoirs in atriums, transport buildings and other spaces with an engineered smoke control strategy.
